#1 Rated AC Not Cooling Repair

Outdoor unit humming, indoor blower running, but the air coming out of the vents is room temperature or worse? You're describing the single most common summer call we get in North Texas — and most of the time, our Air Conditioning Repair pros can finish the job on the first visit.

What Our Customers Are Saying

The usual reasons an AC stops cooling

When a system runs without cooling, it almost always falls into a short list of causes. A burned-out start or run capacitor, so the compressor or condenser fan can't actually start.

Low refrigerant levels, which often require a professional AC refrigerant recharge while the compressor still spins. A frozen evaporator coil — usually from a clogged filter, a closed return, or low charge — that turns into a block of ice and stops airflow. A clogged condensate drain line that trips the float switch or a failed contactor that is not sending power to the compressor at all.

Less commonly, we'll find a thermostat that's lost its call, a tripped breaker, a bad TXV (the metering valve at the indoor coil), or a compressor that's drawing locked-rotor amps and won't start under any condition. Each one of those changes the repair path significantly, which is why we provide a specialized AC compressor repair diagnosis before we quote.

Quick checks you can do before we arrive

Three things take 30 seconds and rule out the easy stuff. First, check the air filter — if it's gray, clogged, or bowed in, replace it and see if airflow improves.

Second, check the breaker for both the indoor air handler and the outdoor condenser; flip it fully off, wait 10 seconds, then back on. Third, walk to the outdoor unit and listen — if the fan isn't spinning even though the thermostat is calling for cooling, leave it off and call for prompt AC repair. Letting a stuck system run can burn out the compressor, which is the most expensive single component in the system.

Our diagnostic process

When the tech arrives, the diagnostic walk is the same every time for Carrollton homeowners. We verify the thermostat call.

We check incoming voltage at the disconnect. We check the contactor for chatter or burned contacts.

We test the run capacitor with a meter — it's not enough to look at it, the microfarad reading has to be in spec. We check superheat and subcooling on the refrigerant side, which tells us whether the charge is correct or if there's a leak.

We inspect the indoor coil and drain line. By the time we hand you a price, we know what's wrong and which parts come off the truck.

What it usually costs

Pricing is flat-rate, set before we start, with no hourly meter running. The diagnostic fee covers the trip and the diagnosis, and we waive it when you approve the repair the same day.

Capacitor replacements and contactor swaps are at the lower end of the range. Complex AC leak repair and recharges sit in the middle. Compressor replacement on an older system is the call where we'll usually pause and run the repair-vs-replace numbers with you in writing.
