When should I schedule a furnace tune-up in Arlington?

What the heating visit covers

We confirm the thermostat is calling for heat, watch the ignition sequence, and look at the flame sensor, the ignitor, and the burners. On a gas furnace we check the venting and the condensate drain on high-efficiency models.

The blower and the filter get the same attention, because a furnace that cannot move air will overheat and shut down even when the burners are fine. Temperature rise is checked against the furnace rating plate.

Safety checks

We inspect the heat exchanger for visible cracks or rust-through and test the limit and rollout switches. A cracked heat exchanger is a reason to shut the furnace off, not a finding we clean and leave in service.

This visit does not include a repair unless you approve one. If the ignitor is already open, or the flame sensor is the reason the furnace will not stay lit, that work is quoted as a repair. Those parts are described on the furnace repair page.
