Replacing a thermostat that has failed

A blank screen, a schedule that will not hold, or a thermostat that never calls for cooling can be the control itself. It can also be a blown fuse on the furnace board or a transformer. We confirm the equipment is receiving a signal before we sell a new thermostat.

The new control has to match the system: conventional heat and cool, a heat pump, or a system with backup heat. Installing the wrong type leaves a stage of heat or cool that never runs.

Smart thermostats

Smart thermostats, including models that need a common wire, are part of this visit. Many older Arlington furnaces do not have a C-wire at the wall. We add one when the thermostat requires it, rather than using a power-stealing adapter that causes short cycling.

We connect the app if you want that, on the equipment we installed. A smart thermostat will not fix a frozen coil, a disconnected duct, or a furnace that will not ignite. Those problems stay on the repair pages.

When the thermostat is not the problem

If the system runs and the house still will not cool, start with AC repair. If the fan runs and there is no heat, start with furnace repair. We would rather find that on the phone than after a thermostat has been replaced for no reason.
