Heat Pump Repair and Installation in Arlington, TX

A heat pump heats and cools with the same outdoor unit. In Arlington it spends most of the year cooling, then reverses for the milder winter days. Boost Air And Plumbing repairs and installs heat pumps.

Heat pump repair

No cooling and no heating on a heat pump can be the same outdoor unit, a reversing valve, a defrost problem, or a conventional electrical failure such as a capacitor or fan motor. We test both modes instead of treating it as a furnace call or an AC call only.

Refrigerant leaks are handled the same way as on a straight air conditioner: find the leak, repair it, and charge to the manufacturer's specification. If the compressor has failed, we compare repair with replacement using the age of the indoor unit as well.

Heat pump installation

A heat pump installation replaces the outdoor unit and the indoor coil, and it needs a thermostat that can control heating and cooling on that equipment. Some houses pair the heat pump with a gas furnace for the coldest nights. That dual-fuel setup is something we install when the house already has gas and the owner wants the furnace as backup.

It is not the right recommendation for every house. If you want a gas furnace as the only heat source, see furnace installation and replacement. We will say which layout fits the ducts, the electrical service, and the equipment you have.

What a heat pump feels like in winter

Supply air from a heat pump is cooler than supply air from a gas furnace, even when the system is working. That surprises people who just replaced a furnace. It is not, by itself, a sign the unit is broken.

When outdoor temperatures drop far enough, a heat pump without backup heat will struggle. Arlington does not stay that cold for long, but those nights happen. Backup heat, whether electric strips or a gas furnace, should be part of the quote if the house needs it.
